A Day as a tour guide
Wednesday, September 30, 2009
When we were kids, my sisters and I always hope that my cousins will come over to our place and play with us. We were closer to them as compared to my paternal family. We will usually be the ones who visit them in Malaysia. My maternal family is a big family that they can't really afford to make passport (300 ringgit for each) for everyone. So now those who are already working will get one for themselves.
And.......after a REALLY LONG wait, my maternal cousin, Kit Yeen and her bf, Desmond finally came to Singapore... for just ONE DAY. Haha!
Thank God! The arrangement wasn't as bad as I expected. I was so afraid that they will arrive at Woodlands or Tuas then I don't even know how to direct them. They reached Queen Street bus terminal on Sunday afternoon. Kenneth and I picked them from there and started our tour guides' day. Haha!
Seriously I don't know where to bring them... But Desmond who came to Singapore many years ago suggested us to bring my dearly cousin to see the "Durian". I was like "Huh??" Durian??... which one??... then OH! ESPLANADE!! Good, cos it's near Queen Street.

We had our lunch first, then to Esplanade, to Merlion and even Fullerton Hotel for rest and "air-con". Kit Yeen isn't really used to walking long distance cos they drive in Malaysia wherever they go. They got to see Singapore River, boat quay, clarke quay and visit Asian Civilisation Museum for free! We even went to Chinatown to buy souvenirs to bring home for friends.
Last stop ~ My parents' satay stall to have their dinner. I nearly got the chance to go JB with them but sigh... we cannot confirm the hotel's availability plus the next day, they will be leaving for home in the afternoon. So it's not really a good time. I'm quite disappointed though cos it's not easy for my dad to allow me to go JB. To him, JB is a risky place.
After dinner, we took a cab back to Queen Street and sent them off. It's really hard to enjoy in just one day. There are places I haven't got the chance to bring them. So hopefully they will come over again for a longer period if they don't mind staying in my house. :)
